3 Ways DJ Skee Used His Passion To Create More Revenue Streams

DJ Skee is well known in the hiphop game, he has been grinding for years to get to his current point. Although he got his foot in the industry by djing for years he is now at the forefront of pop culture. Skee has been recognized by Forbes and Billboard Magazine as one of the most influential figures in today’s entertainment business. It all started by following his passion. Ya boy is makin’ boss moves out here.

My team has actually had the opportunity to work with Skee and Skee TV, we were given some licensing opportunities from him and his team, and have had some of our music featured on Skee TV’s broadcasts like this one for the Games 33rd Birthday party —>

3 Ways DJ Skee used his passion to create more revenue streams

Dash Radio
Through his platform he founded the biggest, all original digital, broadcast platform in the world, Dash Radio. Dash Radio came about due to DJ Skee’s many connections in the game. Relationships are key in any business you want to become a success in.

Tradition
DJ Skee is also owner of two clothing stores in the LA area called “Tradition”. I got a chance to check it out earlier this year when I was in LA for Grammy week, (Slight flex lol) and they have a lot of high end urban wear that is not only dope but also pricey. (Cha Ching $$$)

Digital Marketing
Through his love for music Skee was able to showcase his digital marketing ability. He is responsible for T-Mobile, Google Android, and The Chrysler 300 marketing campaigns. Skee is a wise man, he understands that multiple streams of revenue are important.

I tune into Skee often because he always has words of wisdom for people hustling to become dope. Being an entertainer makes it even more enjoyable for me, I see the blueprint he has laid out and it is something that can be followed! I recommend you do the same, if you want to stay motivated.

Remember, you have to start somewhere, once you figure out what your dope at create a platform for it, and begin to take the necessary steps to watch it grow. For more on DJ Skee check out his website www.djskee.com

How Karen Civil Leveraged An Internship To Become A Boss

How Karen Civil leveraged an Internship To Become A Boss

how Karen Civil leveraged an internship to become a boss

If you don’t know who Karen Civil is hopefully this article is a good introduction for you. Her story is probably one of the most motivating that I’ve seen. It shows we truly can all be successful if we go hard toward our passion. Karen was an ambitious woman that just went for it, and is now one of the biggest entrepreneurs in the game. In digital branding shes the truth! I look up to her and the moves she made in the industry. On this blog I’ve talked about the path I’ve taken to get to my current position in the music industry and hers started the same way, being an intern…

How Karen Civil leveraged an Internship To Become A Boss

In my opinion the best way to make moves and get close to people in the industry is by interning. Here is how Karen Civil leveraged an internship to become a boss. Karen was an intern at Hot 97 for Funk Flex in the mid 2000’s. Along that journey she began cultivating relationships with the movers and shakers of the industry. She became the go to for Dipset initially, then became an important piece to the Young Money imprint. While Lil Wayne was locked up she was his voice to the world, and was a big reason he stayed relevant during his “vacation”. Since then she has managed numerous artists including Nipsey Hussle, and has had a big influence on his innovative marketing campaigns over the years.(See my past post) Check out her dope breakfast club interview.

The power of interning
Internships are powerful tools that provide valuable experience. You meet people you normally wouldn’t and you see the day to day activities on how things work. There is no short cut when it comes to relationships, they come second to none in entertainment and in any realm of business. If you’ve ever heard someone complaining because they “couldn’t get on”, it is due to not having strong enough relationships to make the play happen.

Internships allow your peers to gain more confidence in what you do. You and the organization your associated with can both win. In entertainment internships can truly change your life, as is the case with Karen Civil, while interning im sure she handled tasks she did not enjoy (like searching for Cambodian breast milk on the streets of NY LOL, not really, you gotta see Dave Chapelle to get that joke!) I used to have to go on food runs in the wee hours of the morning for Young Jezzy. But in the process people took notice of her work ethic and gave her a platform to gradually take on larger tasks and become a boss!

My point is, get yourself an internship if you want to make a lasting impression. Look at how Karen Civil went from an ambitious youngster that had no industry clout to a don dada in the game! This is How Karen Civil leveraged An Internship To Become a Boss. She just released a new book as well available on Amazon “Be You and Live Civil”

5 Ways Successful Moguls Think Similar To One Another

5 Ways Successful Moguls Think Similar To One Another

5 Ways Successful Moguls Think Similar To One Another

Mindset is what separates those that are a success from those that are simply going through the motions. When you believe you’re the shit, you usually manifest a dope life, given you take the necessary action. The moguls we look up to most exhibit many other things that we can incorporate into the way we carry ourselves. Here are 5 Ways Successful Moguls Think Similar To One Another

5 Ways Successful Moguls Think Similar To One Another

1. Get out of comfort zone
We can learn alot from moguls, they take chances. Do you think they were cool being regular? Nah! They took a leap and put themselves out there, whether it was being someones understudy, or creating something no one believed in. These were all things that can take you out of your normal comfort level. Russell Simmons started a record label out of his dorm room with Rick Rubin, at the time forming your own record label was unprecedented. He did the unpopular and made it popular.

2. Learn from failure
If you get tied up in one of your failures it can ruin you forever. Every mogul has taken a loss in some form. That is not what defines them. It is their success and work ethic. Moguls use what some consider failure, and create learning experiences from them. You learn more in failure than you do in success. Wisdom goes a long way! Jay-Z was passed up on by every major label before deciding to start his own with Dame, and Kareem. We all know how that worked out…

3. Have a team of smart people
Moguls always have a team of individuals around them that are smarter and more experienced in certain areas than themselves. Every successful Mogul you know has people behind the scene getting things done for them. Daymond John has a team of individuals focusing on the daily operations of his business, this allows him to focus on what hes good at, being the face of his brand while providing insane value to the masses!

4. Set Goals
Imagination is important in success, the most successful moguls have a vast one. They see into the future. An artist very close to P Diddy during his rise to the top said that Diddy always envisioned himself in his current position, he knew ultimately where he wanted to end up, from record label to TV network to liquor owner, all of this was planned years before. He took the necessary steps to get there. (No I will not name the artist that I heard this from)

5. Always looking to reinvest
Moguls believe in themselves so much that when they get large sums of money it is reinvested into their vision. They are smart with their financial decisions, this is why they are still relevant to this day. Diddy bought Revolt for close to $100 Million ( I dont have the exact number and he partner with a private investment firm), Jay Z bought Tidal for $56 Million. The list goes on and on. Be confident in your moves!

Overall the 5 Ways Successful Moguls Think Similar To One Another are things we can use to model ourselves after. There is room for more moguls in this game, both men and women, lets be trailblazers and aim to have people talk about our accomplishments for years to come…
